Attachment Issues

When trauma (physical or emotional) happens in the birth process or after, attachment issues are common. The body doesn't feel safe enough to trust, relax, or bond. New neural pathways have to be established and the body and mind have to get into a more parasympathetic state. This usually takes an multidisciplinary approach.

Melanie started realizing that clients who were coming for more "physical" issues were getting good results in that specific area for which they were seeking treatment, but they were also having side effects of feeling safer, more attached, and they behavior and outbursts were decreasing and, in some cases, disappearing.

She started specializing in attachment issues and working with the adoption community. The parents are required to get work done as well as it involves family dynamics in addition to trauma.
