Frequently Asked Questions

The first month of my practice, I asked how the body “worked.” How it healed and how it got sick to begin with. I am interested in working with people who want to do the work to heal themselves so we can continue to answer those questions.

Please read through these questions to clarify the work that we are doing.

What does an appointment look like?
Each person is a little different, depending on what we are working on, but the first session, whether in person or remote, looks a little like this:
I will have you fill out some paperwork to get your medical and healing history. We will go over your history, what your goal(s) is/are, what you’ve tried, and what’s worked and not worked. Then, we will talk about treatment plans, get you some immediate resources, and start some healing work if there is time in the first session. It is recommended to do at least three sessions to give time for things to begin healing.

How long will it take to “get better?
That’s a complicated question. First, it depends on what your goals are and how you want to feel. Second, it took a long time to get to where you’re at, it will take a bit to get back- or to the “new normal” that is you. Third, it’s not entirely up to us. That is between your system, your mind, your path, your Higher Power, and science. And “who knows, really?” is the answer- all we know is that it’s worth walking down the path. And…you should be able to see changes happening and feel like we are constantly making headway, so you want to do more.

What should I expect my role to be in my healing?
We are a partnership. In that, no one else is fully responsible for your healing, you are- and I am happy to be on your healing team and help empower you to make the best choices for your healing path. Please visit About this Work for more info on our roles in this healing.

How often should I come for appointments?
That would be up to you. Ultimately, it is your time, energy, and money- and your goals. I suggest you hit it harder in the beginning and then start spacing it out so you can see and experience the healing changes you are looking for. I do have limited space, so we can make a treatment plan in the first session to get you where you want to be and make sure I have kept space available for you on my schedule.

Do you work with people who are medicated?
Absolutely. If there are mental conditions that you are being treated for and/or are taking high levels of medication, certain modalities may not be recommended or used.

Can I get off my medication?
This work does not get involved with your medication or adjusting medications. That would be between you and your doctor.

Will you work with my child?
I work with children, but only with the support and willingness of the parents to shift and look at how the family dynamic can support and help the child heal. I do not believe in “fixing” children because children are not broken. If you are paying for an adult child’s treatment, I will not be able to discuss their treatment plan or sessions with you.

Do you take insurance?
I don’t file insurance. I’ve had some in-person clients get a prescription from their doctor for craniosacral therapy and/or massage therapy for headaches- they pay and then can get reimbursed.
