The breath is the only part of the autonomic nervous system that we can consciously control. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the only way to fully heal. If we are in the sympathetic state: fight, flight, or freeze, then the system cannot fully rest or restore. Melanie has found with her clients that that proper breathing is a necessary component of healing conditions and getting the body into a relaxed state.

I have clients that come in for various ailments and conditions that they are experiencing and are wanting to heal. When we begin to talk about what the client is experiencing often times I hear phrases such as "MY fibromyalgia" "MY car accident" "MY back pain."
